Beautiful hotel in Venice with great staff!
Gorgeous palace hotel and great location. Grand entry way, even a canal/water entry when the water levels are down, but unfortunately they were up when we arrived so we wasted money on a water taxi arrival since we had to walk from Rialto from our water taxi due to high tides, but oh well.... another time. So ask about tides and water taxi arrival if that's important to you. Entry way was beautiful, front desk staff were top notch! The best in the businesss! and took care of our every need and desire with style and grace and they are so genuinely friendly! Rooms were lovely and decorated in the grand Venian style that takes you back centuries and makes you feel like a duke or lord upon arrival. Rooms are of course on the small side but we expect that coming to Venice 7 times in the last 20 years. They were beautiful and decorated lavishly. The bar was one of our favorite things about the hotel. We would come back every night to enjoy a different creative concoction. Great ambiance! It felt like we were in our own private speak easy. Just amazing and the bar tenders were engaging, spoke fantastic english and were so much fun! Thanks for the great hospitality Ai Reali! Our stay was memorable.
Re: ROOMS & UPGRADES: We "upgraded" to a deluxe suite for a canal view for $140 euro per night. I thought this meant we would be on the canal and have a nicer room than the originaly standard we had booked for a less.... this was not the case. We should've stayed in the standard. It was just as big (if not bigger) than the deluxe we upgraged to and it had a much larger bathroom than our upgraded? suite. My sister stayed in a standard room for a lot less per night and I felt it was a better room. We DID have a private terrace but the terrace itself was lack luster, generally plain and felt like an afterthought. Certainly NOT worth the $560 extra euro we paid for our supposed upgrade. I wish we'd stayed with the standard room. It was NOT worth the money. Book the standard. Re: RESTAURANT: We were so excited to have dinner at the Michelin recommended Alle Carronne. The dinner was not bad by any means but definitely not worth the money and one of our least favorites in all of the dining out we did in Italy over 30 days. We were on a Michelin tour for our 30th wedding anniversary (accustomed to spending money on great food) and this restaurant was one of our least favorites for creative food, service and ambiance. It lacked in all 3 categories. Save your money and go to one of the dozens of good osteria and trattoria close by. Lastly, unfortunately while we were there, there was a problem with sewage. Everytime we came down the stairs/elevator for breakfast or to leave the hotel, you could not help but notice an overwhelming smell of sewage. I'm sure no fault of theirs and I'm sure they were working on it but it was quite unpleasant. Hopefully it's been fixed and is not an ongoing problem. That said, did we have a good stay? Absolutley.

Exceptional
If you have reasonable expectations for a European hotel (smaller than American hotels) , this place is magnificent. Staff were so helpful and kind. Spoke English. The breakfast was delicious. Easy walk to the Realti bridge and Grand canal.
